1. Are Dogs Allowed on Santa Monica State Beach?

Dogs are not allowed on the beach sand west of Ocean Front Walk or "northerly of the westerly prolongation of the center line of California Avenue."


2. Is alcohol allowed on Santa Monica State Beach?

No alcohol is permitted on the beach.


3. What kind of tent or shelter can I erect on the beach?

Closed wall tents or shelters are not permitted. Sun shades without walls are permitted. Camping is not allowed.


4. What are the hours for the parking lots?

Lot 9 North opens the earliest at 6:00 AM. Most of the others open at 6:30 AM. Pier parking begins at 7:30 AM. Most parking lots close at 7:00 PM, but lot 9 North closes at 7:30 PM, Pier parking at midnight, and Lot 1 North at 2:00 AM. These are summer hours. 5. What does it cost to use the Beach House facilities?

Nearly everything at the Annenberg Community Beach House is free. Parking and swimming have fees, as do special events and classes. Annenberg Community Beach House


6. Is fishing allowed on the Santa Monica Pier?

Yes, fishing is permitted on the pier. No license is required for pier fishing in California. You can pick up any gear or bait you may need, along with good fishing advice, from the Pier Bait and Tackle Shop.
